Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

The .1 release fixes several upstream bugs, and should be backported to lucid. Proposing that the build stays in lucid-proposed for more than ten days.

No bug triage was made to see which bugs reported in Launchpad are fixed in this release.

One issue reported at http://user.services.openoffice.org/fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=22500 (untranslated messages in layouted dialogs) is fixed in this build by building without the layouted dialogs.

For the record, this was discussed with Matthias before. While this is arguably a large changeset, having 3.2.1 in lucid has been the plan all the time (https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/desktop-lucid-openoffice), it just wasn't released in time. So this should spend some longer time in proposed with collecting feedback, but general experience is that the bug fix releases are very helpful for users.

Accepted openoffice.org into luic-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

This Function Wizard bug exists in the 1:3.2.1-6ubuntu1~10.04.1 0 build too, so I think there is a regression:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=594120

Maybe it's too far an edge case, but I do use the FW a lot, so I am reverting to 1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1 0 for my daily work.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Calc and enter "Debian" in cell Sheet1.A1, and "Squeeze" in cell
Sheet2.A1
2. In cell Sheet1.C1, open the Function Wizard and select CONCATENATE and
choose
text1: A1 (on Sheet1)
text2: "-"
text3: A1 (on Sheet2)
The resulting formula looks like this: =CONCATENATE(A1:A1;"-";A1:A1)
expected to look like this: =CONCATENATE(A1;"-";Sheet2.A1)

As usual until OOo 3.3, the lucid-proposed's OOo breaks (force-uninstalls) openoffice.org-voikko extension, which should be rebuilt and put to -proposed as well, and released to -updates at the same time.

I just accepted an updated version from Matthias (1:3.2.1-6ubuntu2~10.04.1) which now also fixes the ARM build again, and an additional fix. Please test this version as well, and let us know how it works for you. It will be available on the archive servers in about half a day.

The latest version from lucid-proposed (1:3.2.1-6ubuntu2~10.04.1) exhibits a big problem with links during pdf export in writer.
The problem is explained here http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=594275 and here https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=615812 (I have not found a filed bug for ubuntu).
The latest version from maverick (1:3.2.1-7ubuntu1) has this bug already fixed (I tested this) and the changelog also reports this fix:

  * debian/patches/pdf-link-export-fix.diff: import from ooo-build master;
don't export PDFs with damaged xref table (closes: #594275)

As this is a serious bug, please update the lucid-prosed to the latest release. Thanks.

It seems to me that here is the place to discuss possible issues with the version in the lucid-proposed repository. As far as I understand the version there is the version to be backported to lucid. The current version in that repository would introduce a regression I pointed to. After I found a description to the bug I posted the above link. If this is not the right place, please tell me where I should report that. Thanks

@Slawa: This place is of course tje correct place to discuss possible regressions in -proposed. I just understood your comment 17 as this bug being a duplicate of another bug (which is not the case).

@Matthias: Is it possible to have the version in -proposed to be updated to 1:3.2.1-7ubuntu1?

The current version in -proposed introduced a regression, and as there is nobody currently working on this, I removed it from -proposed (we need to clean up lucid-proposed for the Ubuntu 10.04.2 preparations).
