HP CP1518ni prints black bands across each page

Bug Description

Ubuntu lucid Lynx. hpijs pcl3 3.10.2 driver. Network printing. Network recognizes printer and test page prints OK. Data pages contain intermittant black bands printed across the page at various intervals and line widths. Printer prints well from Windows computers on same network.

I can confirm this printing from Google Maps. It shows the black bands between the directions rows.

The HP printer driver prints using PCL. I changed the driver to be a "Generic Postscript Printer" and it works fine.

Further testing reveals: the CP1510 Postscript driver also works and is obviously a much better match.

It seems the main bug here is that the CP1510 Postscript driver doesn't show up under the more-specific CP1518ni listing, where the PCL one does.

I have this problem of black bands with both a CP3505 printer and a CM1312nfi MFP using the hpcups driver.

I should add: There is no postscript alternative for either of those printers (CP3505, CM1312nfi) , they appear to be PCL only.
