Completely unobvious that a bug is a duplicate / why duplicate bug status etc can't be edited

Bug Description

As a newcomer to Launchpad, I am very confused if I look at a duplicate bug. The task table has edit buttons but is uneditable. The indication about its duplicate status is hidden in a portlet on the right, and even then it is not clear that it is the cause of the mess.

This bug report appropriately describes a problem. Bug 317244 and bug 346531 are assumed but mutually exclusive solutions to the problem. Therefore I'm marking them both as duplicates of this one.

(Personally, I strongly prefer the bug 346531 solution of thoroughly disabling the table rather than hiding it. Often the table provides information useful for verifying that it really is a duplicate. It may also contain information on assignee, Importance, etc that you want to transfer to the original after you've marked the duplicate.)

bug 346531 is not a duplicate; it refers to the situation when, without reloading the page, someone marks a bug as a duplicate of another - the UI does not change to make the table uneditable at that point.

The current UI greys out the whole table but leaves the edit icons for some fields, so I think this bug is still valid, and can be closed when its more clear to a new user looking at a duplicate that the tasks are not editable.

However, the table is /mostly/ grey today, so its better than it was. I'm downgrading this to low as working on it is not in our current roadmap. Patches appreciatted!
