i'm still having problems with rhythm box. i uninstalled rhythm box and installed last.fm on its own and it works just fine on the website or the player. i then reinstalled rhythm box and the same problem occurs. last.fm works fine on its own but not inside rhythm box. Thank You for your reply, Please let me know if you have any more suggestions.

I have the same problem as Greg. When accessing Last.fm preferences Account Login within Rhythmbox, the login box is flaky, i.e. erasing my passord before it is fully entered. I installed Ubuntu 9.10 yesterday.
