Bug Description

Bug in Jaunty:

When I try to set my ieee1394 preferences in kino, I find that I am unable to do so because /dev/raw1394 has the wrong ownership. It is root:root instead of, say, root:video. This means that I have to change it myself, and I have to do it each time because I can't remember how to make the change permanent.

What should happen: The end user shouldn't have to think about permissions at all except perhaps (at a stretch) for choosing, via the GUI, to be part of the video group.

Well then something else needs to change because the current situation leaves kino, and presumably other packages as well, broken.

Scott,

For Ubuntu Studio users, thinking about people using DV cameras or FFADO supported Firewire sound cards, the easiest way to get access to raw1394 is to set it to belong to "video" group, and the user to this group. Previously, in Hardy, it belongs to "disk" group.

If you won't change anything about that point, I mean let the default to root group, what is the "good way" to configure access for audio and video firewire users ? So I can document it on the wiki on the page I keep updated with the better solution as possible.
