Bug Description

When making a release from a milestone, I entered a description, but when it was created, it actually had the description of the milestone shoved before it. I imagine this is not an accident and could be cool in theory, except that a) it shows up first and b) I can't choose to disable it. If anything you should be able to preface the milestone information with a brief release overview, and not have to put that afterwards. Also I tend to keep my milestones more technical and do the overview from that perspective, so I really don't want that showing up at all on the release page.

Thirdly, when the milestone description gets put into the release, it removes all the newlines which just collapses it all into one giant header paragraph. See https://edge.launchpad.net/wxbanker/+milestone/0.5 versus https://edge.launchpad.net/wxbanker/0.5/0.5 .

Overall I like the direction of making releases publishable from milestones and think the integration has excellent potential, but right now it is making way too many assumptions and on top of that making them IMHO poorly and with errors.

I temporarily removed the milestone description as I want to announce the release and don't want the milestone description there, so I suppose those links above won't be relevant anymore, except perhaps on staging for a bit longer.

I do not understand the issue.
Releases do not have descriptions. Milestones do. Releases have release notes and changelogs as the only text fields. Release show their milestone's description (It is the summary actually).

The summary field will honor formatting of the summary soon. See bug 340951 (unified milestone and release page) for the discussion and there are images of the first draft.

Yes Curtis, that is the issue. The releases show the milestones description as the first item on the release page which is very undesired in my case, especially because this allows me no way to preface it with anything. As I mentioned I like to keep the milestone summary technical and the release page non-technical and this doesn't seem to allow me to do that.

It would be great to have that information automatically copied into the release information so that I can edit/remove it, or perhaps have a checkbox above "Release Notes" when editing a release that allows you to choose whether or not you want the milestone summary. Right now it just "magically" adds this milestone information to the release page without telling you that it will, or asking if you want it and where you want it.

In my case I had to delete my milestone summary to get a release out which was unfortunate. Thanks for your time in looking at this!

We won add a description back to the release object, but moving it, labeling, or hiding it are all possibilities. I think your crucial point is that the description is unneeded when the release is created. I will bring this issue up in the next design review tomorrow.

The summary and release notes are separated by the released files. The summary is in an frame like PPAs use. Attached is a screen shot of one of a release you made.

Here is a milestone from your project. Users can bookmark the milestone, when you add a release, that information will also be displayed. Note that this screenshot does not contain the (+) Create a release link since I am not the project owner/driver.
