xorg eating 50% of my cpu all the time

Bug Description

I apologise if this is a duplicate, but the other bugs don't seem likely. I cannot pinpoint what is doing it, but my CPU is at a *constant* 50% utilisation and the process that most often shows up in both gnome-system-monitor and in top is Xorg. My cpu fan is constantly running and the mouse spinner never stops. I have tried killing various processes and nothing seems to stop it. I thought it might be the proprietary nvidia drivers, but I'm no longer using that (using nv instead). I thought it might be compiz, but I am no longer using that (using metacity).

Will attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` as I have seen in other reports. Please let me know what else you may need.

This maybe be caused by compiz. Compiz can make XOrg eat CPU like a manic.

Such issues are rarely X. See the following guide and try picking a more correct package.

The problem is with Nautilus.

Thanks for the troubleshooting guide, Bryce. I figured out it was Nautilus that was eating my cpu (though I'm not yet sure why).
