Bug Description

Sebastien Bacher searched for "gnome-utils" from Launchpad's front page, clicked on the only result <https://launchpad.net/products/gnome-utils>, clicked "Bugs", and was confused that bug 3118 -- reported on the Ubuntu gnome-utils package, not the project -- didn't show up. (See also bug 3152.)

Similarly, Jean Christophe André searched for "gfxboot-theme-ubuntu" from Launchpad's front page, because he wanted to translate gfxboot-theme-ubuntu into Vietnamese. It didn't turn up at all, because it's not a project.

Variations on this problem will recur because the distinction between projects, packages, and project groups is vague for many people using Launchpad. Therefore, the Launchpad front page search should at least return projects, packages, project groups, distributions, and maybe even teams.

I'd extend that to all first order "objects" such as people, specs and bounties

The priority of this bug should be raised. Currently when I go to "http://launchpad.net", what I want is to see a "search" field where I can find the thing I'm looking for. (Sometimes this thing is a pre-existing bug report, other times it is a product.)

So far, it took me about five minutes of frustrating exploration of the launchpad site before I was able to find the bugs in launchpad so that I could post this note! That five minutes is enough to deter around 95% of users from using launchpad.

(Okay, maybe some of the users will be smarter or luckier than me, but for dumb, unlucky, impatient users like me, the lack of a search field on the front page is a show-stopper.)

Okay, now I am off to search for the bug that originally brought me to launchpad in the first place.

I've used a lot of bug tracking and issue tracking SW and I am as much dissapointed with the time it took me to search for the hidden "search" functionality of launchpad.
When I found out that "* Bugs" was the link I was supposed to click to search for bugs I was unplesantly surprised - I think that a "* Search" or "* Search for bugs" would be much-much better

This is still a problem: for example see bug 105290.

A bug that's confirmed and been here a year and a half ?
Medium priority isn't enough to fix it ?

These bug tags are wrong, and the qa bot is wrong. This bug is not related to bug 3152, and this bug was fixed more than a year ago.
