Thanks for adding equalizer support but now I cannot use my headphones while the internal speakers are muted in my Dell Studio 1535 Model No: PP33L.

Before this patch I can mute the "Front" control and the internal speakers are muted whereas the headphones work.

Just booted 2.6.27-10 from proposed, unfortunately it didn't change anything on my Latitude E6400. I can barely hear anything with master set to 65% (while everything else is at 100%), rapidly getting louder when turning it up from there.
Note that this is only true for the integrated headphone jack or the one of the docking station (jack sense still isn't working for the dock, but that's another issue). Internal speakers appear to be much louder with the same volume setting, nearly blowing out when volume is set to 100%.

Just patched to 2.6.27-11 from proposed and can confirm like Kai that internal speaker appears to be louder (after you set it to 65% and going steadily up to 100%, where you can almost hear the sound from 10 feet away) but the headphone jack has virtually no sound at 100%. I just posted a hardware profile for this new Dell Latitude E6400.

In the git commit, it's mentioned that this fix is backported from 2.6.28-rc3 6b3ab21ef1ac15db4b053ce0ba8eae0ef9361c8a, marking the Jaunty development task closed; please re-open if it's still an issue in Jaunty,
