launchpad proposes packages while reporting a bug in ubuntu but then complains that there are no such packages

Bug Description

when reporting a bug against ubuntu i select distribution->ubuntu, then hit the search besides the package field, some options appear after i write some text (in my case, uvcvideo) and i select one of the options (uvcvideo or uvcvideo-kernel-source, tried both). when trying to submit a bug launchpad complains that what i selected is not a package in ubuntu.

This bug was incorrectly filed about the Launchpad Bug Report Tool which is not the appropriate place to file bugs regarding the backend for Launchpad or the web user interface of Launchpad dealing with bugs. Subsequently, I'm changing the project affected to Malone which is the bugs portion of Launchpad.

I've had the same problem.

But first Launchpad refused to let me report an Ubuntu bug with 'I don't know' selected. Kept saying there is 1 error on the page (then losing the details of the attachment I wanted to include so that I had to re-attach it every time I tried to submit the bug report).

I tried to select the package as described by the reporter above but when I selected the package that seemed to match (though I wasn't sure at all), it said there was no such package (so why list it then!!?).

Eventually, I managed to submit the bug by leaving the (apparently invalid) package name in that field but selected the radio button of the 'I don't know' field.

This is something we should probably look at as part of our work improving the +filebug workflow, so I'm targeting it to 2.2.4.
