Bug Description

Binary package hint: wine

This bug appeared when I upgraded to linux 2.6.26 kernel (I'm using Xubuntu
Interpid). Now all games launched with wine have periodic glitches. It means
approximately every second the game 'freezes' for a moment. I tested this with
the following games:

Project: Nomads
Trackmania United Forever
Ricochet Infinity

The last one is a 2D game, so it's not only 3D acceleration related.

This seems to affect ONLY games under wine, native warzone2100 and warsow work
fine.

Of course, I have nvidia binary drivers installed. But with the same version of
nvidia driver under kernel 2.6.22 this bug doesn't appear.

I'm currently using kernel 2.6.27-4 and it still has this bug.

Ahhh, I caught it. Eventually, it has nothing to do with wine, so it is kernel or nvidia related.
To reproduce it with native linux applications I had only to play a movie (absurd, but this is it).

When I played a movie using mplayer and xv output, it played with the same glitches I experienced in games. AND AFTER it glitches continued in ALL applications (including compiz, warsow, even the cursor movement).

Without playing a movie, glitches don't appear in native applications, but ALWAYS appear under wine.

I wish I could attach some logs, but I have no idea what to test.

This is crazy. It was Thunar's fault.
