Bug Description

gnome-terminal menu bar gets strange transparency by compiz
With compiz off, the menu bar look as expected.
I have gnome-terminal transparent background enabled.
Since compiz adds some extra transparency to it (so you can see the icons) it also affects the menu bar, and makes it look really bad.

I've attached 2 images (one with and one without compiz enabled)

Gnome Terminal - Version: 2.23.6-0ubuntu2
Compiz - Version: 1:0.7.7+git20080807-0ubuntu5

 affects ubuntu/gnome-terminal
 affects ubuntu/compiz

may you forward it upstream to bugzilla.gnome.org since you're facing the issue? that works fine for me, thanks.

I also see the same issue for the gnome-system-monitor.

This issue also only appears when the Murrine theme engine is used. Perhaps there is some RGBA support activated? Temporary workaround is to just use Human-Clearlook as theme.

The bug is that human-theme is enabling RGBA in the gtkrc, murrine doesn't enable it by default. So human should remove the option to force RGBA (transparency)

Thanks Andrea.

Is this an upstream bug, or on Ubuntu?

To which package should it be filed against?

Feel free to set the proper package and mark it as confirmed.

Thanks in advance
