gdict-applet hangs with no network connection

Bug Description

I *think* this is gdict-applets fault, but can't be sure - if I start my Gnome
desktop without a net connection
the panel startup hangs - and unhangs after ~30secs or so - and then
gdict-applet appears, so I assume it is that.

there is a bug (12973) about gnome-dictionary not working offline; but this is
different - this is a hang to desktop startup rather than something trivial like
not being able to use the dictionary.

Thanks for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? Do you have the issue if
you don't use the gdict applet?

This is Breezy.

I've just tested a bit more; it is the gdict applet; if I remove it from the panel
my desktop starts up fine with no net connection.

If I pull the net string out of my switch and then just go to 'add to panel'
and select 'dictionary lookup' it takes quite a while for the app to appear - so
I suspect
this is the same symptom.

Vincent, is an applet supposed to be able to hang the whole panel like that?

It's possible: if it blocks during the initialization. Note that the applet is
rewritten from scratch, so the bug might not appear in dapper ;-)

Does anybody still have that issue with dapper?

I've just tried it with Dapper and the problem has gone. Thank you.
