I'm guessing this is related to the 0.2.1 version currently in Hardy-proposed.

Some result of testing :
- 0.2.1-0ubuntu2 : working.
- 0.2.1-0ubuntu2.1 : crash
- 0.2.6-7 : working

It's probably an incompatibility with another package (glib ?) updates between the upload of 0.2.1-0ubuntu2 and 0.2.1-0ubuntu2.1 in Hardy.

ok, thanks to all for the links.

To fix :

- Downgrade to 0.2.1-0ubuntu2 : in Synaptic, clic on avant-window-navigator package, do Ctrl + E and select the 0.2.1-0ubuntu2. Do the same for libawn0.

- Installing development version : http://wiki.awn-project.org/Distribu...ackage_Archive

Same problem here. Downgrading worked like a charm - I locked the version now till 8.10 is out.

how do you lock these versions untill 8.10 is out?

OK, I moved all the duplicate bugs back to this one, because it makes more sense.

For the record, the fix for the AwnTitle-related errors is in revision 10.1.166 (originally fixed in my desktop-agnostic branch), and merged into trunk in r170. it was released in Awn 0.2.4. It's probably safe to backport into Awn 0.2.1.

> how do you lock these versions untill 8.10 is out?

I think you click the package and then go into one of the menus in the menubar and click on "Lock Version", but I'm going off of memory as my desktop is not Ubuntu (I'm one of the upstream developers, and I use Gentoo).

Thanks for the tip, Mark.

I've uploaded a new revision (for now to my PPA) which includes the fix to which you pointed me. Can someone experiencing the problem please test it? https://launchpad.net/~rainct/+archive

Just found this post, had no hope whatsoever to actually fix the issue.
That's actually amazing, now it's fixed, AND I know how to downgrade and lock versions.

Good work fellas.

Hi Siegfried,
I had a similar problem to wouter and fenris. I've followed your instructions and installed the versions from https://launchpad.net/~rainct/+archive. awn started
to work again fine after that. Thanks!
