System area empty after upgrade to Hardy

Bug Description

After upgrading to the Hardy Beta, the system area of my Main Menu is empty. I tried some changes to gconf, but nothing seems to be able to restore the default settings to the main menu.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?
