Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

First, view packages by status and view either "Installed" or "Not installed" or something else (anything but "All"). If you "Unmark all" the list of packages becomes empty. To repopulate the list you must select any other choice (like "All") and then go back to select "Installed" or "Not installed".

I can confirm this behavior, but for me it also happens with "All".

My version is 0.61ubuntu9 on Hardy.

I presume this cannot go to One Hundred Paper Clips, but it is still a trivial issue, and should be fixed to keep up with the improvements in usability.

I confirm that I am experiencing this bug in Ubuntu 9.04, I have version 0.62.5ubuntu3 installed. And I have this even with "All" selected.

Once clicking on "unmark all", I expect to see the list that I had in front of me displayed again, only without the eventual selections that I had made. This is not happening, as the list is just plain empty.

I suppose the bug is fixed in the attached branch.
Once the package is built on https://edge.launchpad.net/~bilalakhtar/+archive/stage , can someone on maverick please check whether this bug is fixed in the synaptic package on the ppa?

This is the deb. Built inside pbuilder maverick chroot , so can be used only on maverick.

Cool, I downloaded the Lucid version of Synaptic and patched it with my patch. Patch worked! Now, I am proposing branch merge.

For those of you who are impatient, you can use the attached deb (maverick only). I am sure it fixes the bug.

This bug was fixed in the package synaptic - 0.63.1ubuntu13

---------------
synaptic (0.63.1ubuntu13) maverick; urgency=low

  [ Michael Vogt ]
  * rebuild against latest libapt, libept
  * common/rpackagelister.{cc,h}:
    - move quality cutoff into the .cc file to workaround ld crash
  * gtk/rgpackagestatus.cc:
    - remove no longer needed gdkx.h include (that causes compiler
      failures with the latest libapt)

  [ Bilal Akhtar ]
  * debian/patches/11-lp-155930:
    - Modify gtk/rgmainwindow.cc to populate package list again after
     'Unmark All' is selected. (LP: #155930)
