Bug Description

I get no response at all when I start gwibber and want to add twitter. There is no way to chose a service and not then a account / plugin. Everything is empty. I see the program window, text, menus, etc.
And the window for adding accounts open but I can not make any choise.

I tried to uninstall and install - no change.

I tried to load down the plugins for twitter and facebook. It works to install but there will be no change. Everything is 'empty', in Gwibber.

I am assuming that this bug has to do with Gwibber's adding a new account: Twitter. Adding and then authorizing brings back an empty dialog box where you would normally put in your Twitter login/password. Gwibber's Twitter service works since I have my main PC with 12.04.4 (now) running the feeds just fine, but that intallation was in 2012. I was given a laptop in which I installed 12.04.3, a few days ago and the described problem in my post occurred. I'll be looking through /usr/share/gwibber/plugins/twitter/__init__.py for some clue.

Digging around the Twitter developer pages I found out that Twitter is enforcing HTTPS, so I went in /usr/share/gwibber/plugins/twitter/gtk/twitter/__init__.py and updated a few lines: Line 78 : url = "https://api.twitter.com/oauth/authorize?oauth_token=" + self.token.key #changed url to https

Line 143 : http_url="https://api.twitter.com/1.1/account/verify_credentials.json", parameters=None) #changed url to https

After restarting the gwibber client and adding twitter>authorize I was greeted with the twitter login box and was able to add my Twitter account.
