Please backport parallel 20120422-1 (universe) from raring

Taking a look

We've got a conflict with moreutils in precise on ./usr/bin/parallel
This is filed in Debian as http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=674698 as it does a diversion, but that can break other software. I think we should solve this before backporting

FWIW, this conflict occurs in quantal as well

Interesting I'll try to look into the upstream issue some more.

Hi Micah,

It looks like this problem is fixed in upstream I filed a LP bug to have parallel upgraded in Raring

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/parallel/+bug/1084863

Hopefully once that is done we can move forward with this backport.

Sorry we didn't reply sooner. It looks like this will have to be
backported to Quantal too to maintain the upgrade path, per the
backports policy. Could you quickly test it builds/installs/runs there
and then I'll approve it for you. Ping me on IRC and pin me down to do
it if you need to. :-)

Umm, sorry for not responding, the reason I didn't want to backport this was http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=674698. I think the proper solution is a Conflicts, but it should really be worked out with the Debian maintainer.

Ah, nevermind, the output shows that it's compatible now.

Quantal does need a bug fix per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/parallel/+bug/1084863/comments/1

Yeah, if someone wants to SRU to fix that bug that would be fine. I think for a backport it should be OK now to get the new features.
