The project exists to foster the development of free and open source software tools for like-minded broadcasters.
The Bentokit Project is an open source software development project for the community broadcasting sector, run by the community. Initiated by SYN Media in Melbourne, the aim of the Bentokit community project is to source a collaborative of stations and/or individuals interested in using and developing free software in the interests of the community broadcast sector.
The primary goal of the project is to provide software to the sector that is:
* Completely free and open source
* Intuitive and easy to use (minimising training required)
* Modular, customisable and expandable
